Every Room has a shiny sink- Dresser

A Sitting Area

Here was a glider rocker that not
being used but looked good against
the wall. My baby now is held and
rocked by moonlight for the
middle of the night feedings and held and
rocked by sunlight for the morning
feeding.

Every Room has a shiny sink- Desk Area

This is where the new me sits.
The new me faces the window to nature instead of the time consuming television set.
The new me does not have unpaid bills to remind me how broke I am.
The new me is now surrounded by beauty to remind me of who I am.

Olympic CLoset Challenge

I'm happy to say, my closet only has what fits and what I wear.

My closet is no longer shouting out to me, look I know you had
two babies but when are your hips going to go back to size?
My clothing was making me feel like I there was something wrong with the way my body is.

I now have signature outfits that I can rotate for work or going to dinner with a friend. Everything from hair accessories to the shoes on my feet.

I no longer have the stress of getting ready for work because I know I have five good outfits that are clean and fit.

I drive a clean car

Clean car mission,

I never knew myself as one who would drive a clean car. In the past, my friends and family would make fun of my messy car and make little jokes on how things fall out when you open the door. I always used the excuse that it's too cold and I'm too busy to clean out my car. We'll the
excuse has been crushed. On my way home from work, I went thru the car wash before picking the kids up from daycare. It took a total of five minutes. Another day, I took five minutes to run out to my car with a garbage bag and a laundry basket and filled it up. The next day I was driving home from work I decided to take give minutes to vacuum. This was so easy I'm going to do it again next week. By Friday my car will be cleaned again.

FlyLady's Winter Olympic Event #9

Time to clean out the car! I know we are supposed to do this every week, and I do to some extent. I usually get all the trash from the middle console or anything that has ended up on the floor (in the front) but that's about it. Today I decided (with a little help from dh) that I would do a more thorough job of it. I took everything out of the trunk that didn't need to be there. Some was trash, some was recycle, and some was just old work stuff that I didn't use anymore (my "office" is in my trunk). My dh worked more on the front interior of the car, and I helped once I finished with the trunk. Some items found: Home made washing detergent (my SIL gave us LAST Christmas, I think), lots of game pieces (from work), used wrapping paper and bows, aluminum foil, and several plastic grocery bags, just to name a few. After we got all the "junk" out, yes there was a LOT of it, I decided I might as well get it vacuumed out. I'd been wanting to do that for a long time (months at least), so I decided, no time like the present! :) It took $2 worth of quarters but it was so worth it. Every time I get in my car now it makes me smile!

Meal Planning Can Be Easy

One of our events this week was to take out our calendars and plan a week's worth of meals. Here are the menus that I used to use. I took things that my family already ate on a regular basis. I made up 4 menus, along with the shopping list to go with those meals. Then I rotated those weeks, so we would repeat once every four weeks.

Here are my sample menus:

Menu 1
Jambalaya, Rolls
Tacos, Refried Beans, Spanish Rice
Lemon Chicken, Rice, Veggies
Meatloaf, Baked Potatoes, Salad
Ham, Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans
Gnocchi, Garlic Bread, Salad

Menu 2
Chili Boats
Fried Burritos, Spanish Rice
BBQ Baked Chicken, Salad, Rice
Hamburger Helper, Salad
Pork Chops, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Apple Sauce
Spaghetti, Green Beans, Garlic Bread

Menu 3
Stew, Rolls
Chicken Enchiladas, Spanish Rice, Refried Beans
Mushroom Chicken, Corn, Rice, Salad
Hamburgers, Potato Salad, Chips
Stir Fry
Lasagna, Salad, Garlic Bread

Menu 4
Tortilla Soup, Tortillas
Cheese Enchiladas, Refried Beans, Spanish Rice
Herb Roasted Chicken, Green Beans, Salad, Rice
Tamale Pie
Crockpot Pork, Corn, Mashed Potatoes
Fettuccini Alfredo, Garlic Bread, Veggie

During the summer months, I would replace the soups and stews with salads. You might have noticed that there are only 6 dinners listed. That left night 7 for leftovers or dining out/take out. Also, I am not posting my shopping list because your list would be different based on the recipes you use.

Take some time to write down the recipes your family already enjoys. Then create a master shopping list and take the time to put it in order by the layout of your grocery store! The extra effort now will save you a lot of time later.
